Inverters

Inverters are one of the major components of a PV system and are used to convert the DC electricity generated by PV modules into AC electricity which is compatible with the grid and appliances.

There are many different types and sizes of inverters: it is important to understand the specifications of these inverters, the different types of inverters available and the range of features provided by inverter manufacturers and models.

This course will teach you how to:

• Explain how inverters work
• Identify the critical specifications of an inverter, including DC, AC and physical requirements
• Compare different types of inverters
• Assess protection system requirements of an inverter
• Obtain system performance data using monitoring systems

This course is part of the Grid-Connected PV Systems training pathways. Before you enrol in this course, you should complete the Workplace Health and Safety, DC Electricity, Solar Radiation, PV Fundamentals and AC Electricity courses.
